My interest in ceramics began in the mid 90’s when I began collecting pottery pieces from local artists. With my interest peeked, I enrolled in a six- week pottery workshop. Amazingly, I found I had real skill and a strong interest in the craft. After the second class, I decided to invest in a pottery wheel. I knew then that I had a passion for clay, and all its endless possibilities. My study of ceramic art included various workshops and intense reading of numerous books and journals. Through the years, I have been learning and experimenting with forms and glazes of my own.

In 1998, with a lot of hard work, I made my dream come true, by opening my own pottery studio, Cone Five, in Buffalo, NY. Since 2000, I have participated in several fine art festivals. In 2001, I won first place in clay at the Allentown Art Festival. Then, in 2002, I opened a retail location of Cone Five. I am now able to sell my pottery, teach classes, and invest in the community, doing something I truly love.

My work is done mostly in stoneware clay, with a high concentration on hand building. My pots are fired in an oxidizing atmosphere at about “cone 5”. To achieve the unique look of my pots, I use several different textures, glazes, slips and oxides. I am always challenging myself to try new forms. It is important to me that my style continues to evolve, and that the quality and techniques used remain consistent. All pottery is high fire, microwave and dishwasher safe. Glazes are made on site and are lead free. I want people who buy my pottery to use it in their every day life activities. To meet that end, each piece is crafted with a lot of thought, time and devotion to design and function.
